The 2024 SUAS competition called for a vehicle that could drop water bottles from flight using image recognition over targets. The competition is held in Maryland, June 2024.
In need of a new kind of challenge, members focused on the new VTOL build that could do vertical take-off and horizontal flight once up to speed.
In the revamp from quarintine. Toby was the first unmanned aircraft to be built. It is a Hexcoptor capable of traveling 6 miles from destination. Its now being used for spare parts, but this is an crucial project that built momentum for many of our members.
In the 2019 season, member recreated the MB-22 and presented the final product in the Spring 2019 senior showcase!
The MB-22 is capable of lifting an additional payload of 21 lbs. Unfortunately, MB-22 suffered a fatal failure on its irreplaceable flight computer less than two weeks before competition.
The team went on to compete at the AUVSI competition. They proudly finished 14th place in their first appearance.
