Being a mother and wife is the joy of my life, and I am very blessed to come home from work everyday to two little boys and a husband who love me as much as I love them.
My sons are the reason my students and career matter. Educators who are passionate about best practice and doing what is best for kids are instrumental in childhood development. My students get one childhood, and as their only 1st grade teacher, it is my duty to leave a lasting, positive imapact.
Besides "Momma," Mrs. MacVane is my other favorite name to be called! I've been a general education first grade teacher for the last 7 school years, and I can truly say "First Grade Rocks!"
My teaching partner and I spend our days making instruction explicit and the moments in between memorable. We even celebrated the 67th day of school this year... if you know, you know.
I've been part of the Hard of Hearing community since I was 5 years old, when my kindergarten hearing test came back flagged. I've worn hearing aids since 2001 and am grateful for the advances in technology!
My husband and I love exploring new National Parks and have visited 13 so far, with Glacier and Everglades being favorites. We love taking easy hikes with our sweet boys!
I've grown passionate about getting children outdoors since having children of my own. Each year we try to do the 1,000 Hours Outside Challenge, meant to get kids outside the same amount of time that the average American child spends on screens each year!
