Before creating your personal learning account, it is important to determine which computing device you will use to access the online content. Once you create your account, you can only access the curriculum from that one computer. So, determine which computer you will use and then create your Michigan State University Guest Account by following the instructions on this website: MSU Guest Account Creation Page. (After you create your account it will open another window and it will be easy to get sidetracked here. Make sure to complete the next step below). Login to the registration system with your Guest Account ID (your email) and Password and follow the instructions to register for the course.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Training Block 1 will only provide 3 hours of MLEP credit. If you need 6 hours of credit, sign up for Training Block 2. and b) Training Block 2 will provide 6 hours of MLEP training. If you only need 3 hours of training, sign up for Training Block 1.
Once registered, follow the instructions below to login – use the same login credentials that you set during registration (your NetID is your email used during registration and use the same password set during registration). Please Note: At the end of the course there is quiz that you must score 80% or higher on. You can take the quiz multiple times and once you have passed the quiz a record of your completion will be automatically sent electronically to the Minnesota Logger Education Program where your completion will be noted in the training records.
Go to the Michigan State University’s Online Course System (known as Desire2Learn or D2L): https://d2l.msu.edu/ and click on the Login button.
Enter your MSU NETID (your email address, the same email used during registration).
Enter the password you set during registration.
You will be logged into D2L - click on the View All Courses link and you will see the MN SFI Logger Training title.
*Note: If you need to reset your password go to: https://auth.msu.edu/ and select the option for Need Help Signing In.

What is my username/NETID? Your username (or NET ID) is the email address you used to create your account during registration (you use the same email address/password for registering and for taking the course).
What URL do I go to for logging into the course? Go to: https://d2l.msu.edu/. You will see the Michigan State University at the top of the page.
I received a “not authenticated” response when trying to login – what do I do? A “not authenticated” message is typically an issue with a password not being entered correctly. To reset your password at any time go to: https://auth.msu.edu/ and select the option for Forgot Password.
I forgot my password – where can I reset it? To reset your password at any time go to: https://auth.msu.edu/ and select the option for Forgot Password. You will receive an email from a sender called “Community ID” with a link to reset your password.
