Dr. Liao, a registered professional engineer (PE), is a professor and director of the Anaerobic Digestion Research and Education Center (ADREC) in the Department of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering (BAE). Dr. Liao is a member of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ASABE), American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AiCHE), Algal Biomass Organization (ABO), and Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). Dr. Liao currently serves as an associate editor for Journal of Biotechnology for Biofuels, and is on the editorial boards of Journal of Biomass and Bioenergy and Journal of Industrial Biotechnology.

Dr. Uludag-Demirer is a research specialist and the lab manager. Her research focuses on anaerobic digestion, algal cultivation, wastewater (blackwater) treatment/utilization, and bio-oil utilization.

Mr. Yuyui Zheng is a Ph.D. student. His research focuses on algal cultivation, carbon capture and utilization.

Ms. Ashley Cutshaw is a Ph.D. student. Her research focuses on algal cultivation, biomass conversion, and value-added polymer production.

Mr. Benjamin Thomas is a Ph.D. student. His research focuses on decentralized wastewater treatment and utilization.

Mr. Adam Smerigan is a MS student. His research focuses on using biological materials to capture carbon dioxide.

Mr. Henry Frost is a MS student. His research focus on biorefining of lignocellulosic materials for value-added chemical production.

Mr. Douglas Clements is a MS student. His research focuses on designing a novel crayfish capture unit to eradicate invasive crayfish in Great Lakes region.

Ms. Annaliese Marks is an undergraduate student. She is working on bioreactor design, wastewater characteristics, and carbon dioxide capture and utilization.
