Dr. Liao, a registered professional engineer (PE), is a professor and director of the Anaerobic Digestion Research and Education Center (ADREC) in the Department of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering (BAE).  Dr. Liao is a member of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ASABE), American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AiCHE), Algal Biomass Organization (ABO), and Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). Dr. Liao currently serves as an associate editor for Journal of Biotechnology for Biofuels, and is on the editorial boards of Journal of Biomass and Bioenergy and Journal of Industrial Biotechnology.

Dr. Uludag-Demirer is a research specialist and the lab manager. Her research focuses on anaerobic digestion, algal cultivation, wastewater (blackwater) treatment/utilization, and bio-oil utilization.  

Mr. Meicai Xu is a Ph.D. candidate. His research focuses on anaerobic digestion of renewable energy production and nutrient recovery.   

Ms. Emilia Emerson is a Ph.D. student. Her research focuses on advanced biotechnology of wastewater treatment and ammonia recovery  

Ms. Annaliese Marks is an undergraduate student. She is working on bioreactor design, wastewater characteristics, and carbon dioxide capture and utilization.     

Mr. Blake Smerigan is an undergraduate student. He is working on wastewater characteristics and carbon dioxide capture.
