I am an environmental science and sustainability student, ice cream scooper, cherry farmer, pug owner, animal lover, squirrel enthusiast, croc wearer, iced coffee drinker, true crime podcast listener, leo, art museum explorer, procrastinator, and polaroid picture taker.
I really value the relationships I have with my family and friends. They are my support system and some of the most imporant people in my life.
Accepting everyone and being open minded are two extremely important values to me. It really frustrates me that some people are so hateful and intolerant.
Injustice and inequality are very prevalent in the world today, I try my best to counteract this by being a supportive ally and advocating when I can.
I believe life is too short to be doing things that make you unhappy. I try to live my life to the fullest and appreciate even the small things. We all have a life to live, why not enjoy it?
Protecting the environment is an issue I am very passionate about. I hope to use my future career to help save the Earth from climate change effects.
What I’ve learned about my own worldview is that it has been influenced a lot by my mom and the media I grew up with in middle/high school.
What I noticed when I took the worldview-test is I am driven by values like diversity, authenticity, imagination, inclusion, equality, and environmentalism.
The ways I see my worldview come to expression in my daily life is my how I dress, dye my hair, do my makeup, and also how I treat others.
The inherited worldviews I grew up with, like diversity and inclusion, sensitivity, emotion, and uniqueness have now turned into my informed worldviews as I grew up and established my own opinions.
I went through a change of worldview when I started to question some inherited worldviews about religion, authority, and social systems.
"Postmodern" worldview is the category I feel I align with most. This mindset can be described as emphasizing on self-expression, and are skeptical about the great (especially modern) narratives, which they see as oppressive and in service of the powerful. The great strength of this worldview is its sensitivity to others’ suffering and its commitment to social justice.
After taking many of the learning syles quizzes, my highest scores were in the visual learning category. This means I learn best when information is presented in a written language format or pictures/diagrams. I had never thought about how I learn, only that I need to for a good grade. These resourses even provided ways for me to study based on my learning style such as:
Studying in a place that is free from visual distractions.
When using flashcards, limit the amount of information on a card so that you can form a mental picture of the information.
Watch videos about topics you are studying in class.
When hearing a new word you want to remember, visualize its spelling.
When reviewing information, rewrite or draw the information from memory.
When taking notes, replace words with symbols wherever possible.
One quiz even took it a step further to say I am an ENFJ learner. The website describes ENFJ learners as wanting to pursue information that is helpful to themselves and other people. The common good is their motivating factor. Also, they work well both in groups and on their own, using their community-focused thinking to brainstorm and develop ideas that the group can then provide feedback on. I feel as though this relates to me very much, I am trying to find out as much knowledge as I can about climate change an its effects to help sustain our earth for generations to come.
The answers to my four questions are all connected throughout the way I live my life. I show who I am though my actions and style. My visual learning style connects very well with my long time interests of art and creativity.
I have pursued a career path in hopes of making the world better for everyone, which aligns with my values and worldviews. These values and worldviews (such as equality, social justice, emotions, and the environment) are my driving factors for choosing a job to help improve the Earth.
My four answers are connected through the way I act and treat others. I strive to amplify kindness and equality through my thoughts and actions. My answers influence what I share online, usually spreading awareness of social justice issues and promoting sustainable practices.
