ED800-Educational Inquiry-Fall 2023-Kristy Stein
This course explored the problems within teaching and the different concepts of educational inquiry and the methodology of education. We discussed a lot of communication and the roles of students being able to communicate information to their peers. This course allowed for more in-depth thoughts and considerations in regard to questioning within educational practices. The connections between teaching and learning and understanding for students as well. There was also a lot of time spent within teachers being able to inquire and ask questions in order to meet students needs.
TE842-Elementary Reading Assessment Instruction-Fall 2023-Darreth Rice
This course explored the different characteristics of effective reading instruction and the different needs of each student. Also discussing the reading assessment processes and how to effectively check students understanding. By using the research in the course by the course provided researchers and practitioners of reading instruction and assessments. How we as future educators can be the most effective for our students. A lot of time spent on interacting and reading the different literature that the students were also going to be reading and interacting with.
KIN857-Promoting Positive Youth Development in Sport-Fall 2023-Jennifer Roth
This course mainly focused on positively impacting students' development in their sport and allowing them to have positive interactions within their sports. This course also discusses the coaching and mentoring and the details of being a good coach and mentor. The most important factors of allowing youth students to walk away from things with a positive outlook on their sport. Keeping students engaged and excited about their skills and future development. Working also with videos and students actions in order to see what things students needed more help and assistance on.
TE846-Accomadating Differences in Literacy Learners-Spring 2024-Raven Jones
TE846 explained the developmental and instructional processes in the classroom and how to understand different students' needs within those processes. The course also followed the assessment principles that contribute to effective learning of reading and writing for youth students and again how to identify those differences from learner to learner. Also discussed the different methods for teaching the different need for each students individual learning processes. Also more in depth on the individual differences that are possible and acceptable from students.
KIN854-Legal Aspects of Sport-Spring 2024-Alexandra Breske
This course went into depth on general legal concepts and the impact of laws and legal responses to issues within sports. The different responsibilities of coaches and administrators within sports. The ways we need to protect athletes within their sports and different safety within sport for the athletes and the spectators. The course also focused on injury prevention and managing injuries for athletes. Responses to injury due to lack of meeting safety protocols.
KIN868-Skill Development in Athletes-Spring 2024-Andrew Driska
This course describes the motor learning skills that are involved in sport coaching. The coaches' abilities to demonstrate tasks and showing the students how to perform different movements within their sport. The different constraints that are possible within the coaching process and the different methods of skill instruction. How to instruct the athletes on their different skills and how each athlete is different in their learning methods and how we as coaches/teachers can approach them and meet them where they are.
KIN856-Physical Bases of Coaching-Summer 2024-Anthony Moreno
Kin 856 discussed the relationship between the biological and physical aspects of coaching and how by being more educated on these aspects how we can improve the athletes. Also discussing the anatomy of the young athletes. Biomechanics and the movements of athletes and how these things change over time during children's development. Finally, performance enhancement and allowing athletes to develop to their full potential. Really approaching each student with meeting them where they are at but also encouraging them to continue to push themselves harder if they are able.
CEP818-Creativity in Teaching and Learning-Fall 2024-Candace Robertson
This course expressed the value and importance of being creative in the classroom both as teachers and learners. How can we as educators allow for the most possible creativity out of our learners and their skills. Giving more freedom for students to express understanding through their own individual expression of creativity. Also, showing creativity in multiple contexts and situations in order to develop the students. While also allowing for psychological and organizational skills in creativity.
TE849-Methods & Materials for Teaching Children and Adolescent Literature-Spring 2025-Curtis Lewis
Using multiple different genres in literature to promote student learning and understanding. Also using different literacy elements to focus on the literature elements for the students in grades K-12 while allowing them to gain new experiences through the elements. Each learner is so different, and we have to give many elements for each of them in order for them to gain the most out of activities. Adding elements of focus as well to the learning and development. Working with different materials for each students development.
ED870-Capstone-Spring 2025-Mathew Koehler
This course is the time to reflect on the experience as a whole within the master's program. Using this time to reflect on understandings and experiences throughout the course. Creating a portfolio online of all of the past work and processes in the course and the different learning objectives. Participation of online discussion groups and interaction with peers in order to improve portfolios. Learning from others who have also completed the program and can share their skills. Working with discussion with other capstone students in order to learn from each other and also give and receive beneficial feedback.
