The Global Education Leaders Community is for anyone who is leading, has led, wants to lead, or is curious about leading a language or education abroad program. Language program leadership is complex, unpredictable, overwhelming, and often lonely. The purpose of this community is to come together, get to know each other, learn from each other and experts, exchange ideas, problem-solve, collaborate, and support each other for joyful and sustainable program leadership.
Our community welcomes past, current, and future global education leaders; in formal and informal roles; at MSU or programs in the Greater Lansing Area; of all employment types (volunteer, teacher, teacher candidate, graduate student, Academic Specialist, NTS and TS faculty, advisors, academic support staff, etc.); and any career stage.
During the Academic Year 2025-2026 we are offering two ways to exchange, engage, and enhance your leadership:
Lunch-and-Learn: Weekly BYO lunch events in MSU's Language Commons (Wells Hall B-125) on Mondays from 12:30-1:30 to exchange ideas and discuss a chapter per week from the newest Routledge Handbook of Language Program Development and Administration. For a preview of the book from the editors see the video below.
Graduate Seminar: In Spring 2026 Senta Goertler will be teaching a graduate seminar (LLT 841: Program Administration) on Thursdays from 3:00-5:50. This course is open to advanced undergraduate students, graduate students from all programs, as well as practitioners.
