Since 2004, I have been teaching mixed Spanish (includes Heritage Language Learners) and social science high school classes in southern California. I completed MAFLT (Masters in Foreign Language Teaching) at Michigan State University’s College of Arts & Letters online in 2019. It is never too late to better your teaching as well as your understanding of second language acquisition! Now that I am also teaching ELD (English Language Development) this program has helped me understand those learners’ needs and how to develop curriculum that addresses their needs as well as how to facilitate languages through different lenses to elicit discourse and critical thinking skills in our students. This is why I had gone into teaching originally as a social science teacher. Now I have learned to combine both of my credentials and love what I do. My aims of changing lives and hopefully fledging critical thinkers & life long learners is my contribution to a better society. This website is my journey through discovery and reaffirmation of the pedagogies and techniques that I have used and will use in my language classroom. ¡Vámonos!
