A near peer is someone who participates in Transforming Tools Together Design Workshop activities along with the autistic youth, but is not the main focus. They can offer advice based on their experience as needed, but should not direct or control participation. The participation of the near peer is to maintain a supportive presence to promote the comfort of the autistic youth. The near peer can explain concepts in an accessible way when clarification is needed.
These are the worksheets that will be used in the Design Workshop.
This is on page 53 of the Questions Worksheet and will be in your Near Peer Kit. It is also below.
(go to the separate timeline just for the Autistic Young People that they should see)

If not, go to the Media Lab to help them to complete one. (If there isn’t enough time before the CoCreating begins, then work with them at the end.)
Decide with the youth if they want to start with storytelling, art, sound design or filming.
Go to the design stations with the youth and meet the Design Lead to get instructions. (Filming will need to at least be second in order to set up the stage)
CoCreate to Transform Mental Health.
Move through stations: 15 minutes per station if you want to go to all stations, you may decide to stay longer at some and that is fine too.
do an interview to fill out your design workshop journal from your near peer kit.
If they haven’t yet work with the youth to complete the online survey in the media lab.
Let us know if you are able to come back for more workshop days.
Go to the Digital Form of the Journal
Use the paper versions available at the workshop.
(only use the digital form of the journal if you copy it and then name it and do it on a TTT device)
Near Peers will be asked the questions from these journals at the end of every workshop to fill in with the Near Peer.
