The MACUL (Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning) Conference was one of the most beneficial conferences I have been to. This conference allowed me to attend different workshops and learn from other educators across the region. I was able to take back so much knowledge to apply to my classroom. One main workshop I took back to my classroom, which helped during our recent pandemic was the idea of a flipped classroom. If you get the opportunity to attend this conference, I would highly recommend!

Tech 2 Teach was a 4 day workshop through the Genesee County Intermediate School District. I was one of the 71 educators throughout our county that was nominated by my district to participate. During my four different sessions throughout the school year I was able to work with new technology tools that can be used in the classroom, collaborate with other teachers around the county, and plan the implementation of different technology. Our big idea we worked around was "IDEAS."
Identify strands of learning that is relevant or best matches their technology readiness
Demonstrate proficient use of various tools identified within chosen strands
Ensure the integration of technology tools into existing units/lessons with their students
Apply the integrated lessons/units in their classrooms with their students
Share with building staff and administration results of their efforts
Tech 2 Teach was very useful. I made connections throughout the county with other teachers that I still collaborate with to this day!

Taking part in Math Recovery training helped me focus on early numeracy development. It really helped me as a teacher go back to the basics and help my students who are missing some of these key beginning skills. AVMR 1 focused on "Foundational learning of whole number topics such as number words and numerals, structuring numbers, addition and subtraction, and topics that affect the development of future mathematical understanding. The topics and domains covered often appear later on as holes in understanding for older struggling students."

This professional development was very eye opening. It was offered through my Intermediate School District. My first year in a public school I worked with students with Autism and did not feel like I had the knowledge to help them. This PD gave me in sight on how my students with ASD think and work. I walked out of this workshop with a lot of different ideas of how to help and best reach these students.
