URGENT: Public Appeal for Justice – Emma Cole’s Arrest Highlights Custody Protection Crisis

Ramsey County, MN – Emma Cole, a legal custodial parent residing in Minnesota, was wrongfully detained today, October 24, 2024, as a result of a series of alarming jurisdictional missteps stemming from Wisconsin court actions. This detainment flagrantly violates Minnesota’s court rulings regarding custody and jeopardizes the safety and well-being of her son, O.L., placing him at risk under the care of an individual with a documented history of abuse allegations.

Since 2018, Emma Cole has been the legal custodial parent of O.L., as recognized under Minnesota law. However, despite Minnesota’s jurisdiction under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA), Wisconsin courts have intervened with conflicting custody orders, leading to Emma’s arrest and wrongful separation from her child. These actions not only infringe upon Emma’s civil liberties but also endanger the life of O.L., given the abusive history of Jason Andrew Kramlinger, the individual seeking custody in Wisconsin.

Emma Cole’s custody was lawfully established in Minnesota, which holds exclusive jurisdiction over the case per the UCCJEA. However, Jason Andrew Kramlinger, O.L.’s father, circumvented legal processes by obtaining court orders in Wisconsin, disregarding Minnesota’s authority and placing both Emma and O.L. in grave danger. Emma’s detainment is the latest in a string of unlawful actions that demonstrate a failure in safeguarding the rights of custodial parents and their children across state lines.

Kramlinger’s history of abusive behavior towards O.L. further complicates the matter, as his actions now place the child at significant risk, highlighting the urgent need for legal intervention and correction.
