I am a 3rd grade teacher at Pleasant Lake Elementary. I have been teaching since 2017 in both 1st grade and 3rd grade. I am a graduate of Butler University with certifications in Elementary Education and Special Education. Education is a true passion of mine and of my family. My mom, brother, sister-in-law, and both sets of grandparents were or are teachers. I truly believe that teaching is my calling and I cannot thank you enough for sharing your student with me. It’s going to be a great adventure! :)
Classroom Communication
Teaching Philosophy
I strongly believe that students are best equipped for meaningful and lasting learning when they feel safe, loved, and supported. Our classroom is structured to promote authentic opportunities to create a family-like atmosphere where students are able to take healthy risks, show kindness to one another, and become contributing members of the school and the community. We start and end each day with a class meeting, called “campfire,” where students are able to interact with one another and discuss the day’s agenda for learning. All classroom behaviors are handled using natural consequences and students are given a framework to help reflect upon behaviors and their impact on the classroom as a whole.
