Literature STEM - Thanksgiving

Article: 7 Benefits of Adding a Read Aloud to Your STEM Challenge

Literature Read: Third grade heard the story of A Plump and Perky Turkey by Teresa Bateman and were asked to build a turkey that could stand on its own. Two vocabulary words students focused on were balance and symmetry. Fourth grade heard the story of Turk and Runt by Lisa Wheeler. Students were asked to disguise a turkey as a snowman. The vocabulary word students focused on was camouflage. The fifth grade heard the story of Thanksgiving at the Tappletons' by Eileen Spinelli. Students were asked to build a fishing pole so that they could fish the turkey out of the pond.

Constraints: Students were given 3 paper plates, 6 index cards and tape to build their marble runs.
