Community input is important in this process of determining which improvements can realistically be made, and which ones would truly impact student learning.
THE COMMUNITY-WIDE SURVEY CLOSED ON OCT. 3.
The starting point of this process was the Strategic Plan, and community input was its driving force. Three public meetings in October 2024 generated ideas, shaped them into goals, and further defined them into action steps.
An online survey opened to the public in September 2025 and closed in early October. MSD used this tool to hear from more people and offer an opportunity for whole-community input. The survey asked specific questions about the current knowledge and future priorities of residents who live in, pay taxes to, work for and/or enroll their children in the district.
Focus group meetings will take broad survey results into deeper discussions. Participants were invited with a deliberate intent to represent all audiences within the community – from parents with preschoolers to alumni and older citizens.
A summary report will be presented at a Board of Education meeting. This recap of key points will be central to future conversations about the projects that should be included in the referendum.
This multi-level community input will be considered along with the guidance of professional advisors and MSD staff. Together, these voices will help identify projects that will meet the Strategic Plan’s Goal Area 3 and improve facilities for the future.
