Welcome to the first Counselor Connections!

Henry David Thoreau once wrote, "One must maintain a little bit of summer, even in the middle of winter."  He clearly understood the value and restorative power of this brief period of time when we are given an opportunity to rest, relax, and reboot.  This summer, I hope you will take some time to determine the value of each day.  Find ways to explore your interests and savor special times with family and friends. Soak up the bliss of lazy days and the fun of warm, casual summer nights.  Find purpose in everything you do and remember that the school year ahead brings with it much opportunity, discovery, challenge and change; each experience holding the power to bring you one step closer to your next goal and the future you want.  The gifts of the summer should be appreciated.  They will serve you well from September to June.

Have Fun! Be Safe! Make Memories!

Students interested in applying for these free programs should meet with their School Counselor to discuss their potential fit for these programs.  Deadlines are in June and July so meet with your counselor soon!

Carleton College, MN

Every fall, Carleton College sponsors a fly-in program for underrepresented senior students called Taste of Carleton (TOC). Participants in this all-expenses-paid program will visit campus from Thursday, October 8 to Saturday, October 10. It's a great way for students to get a real feel for what Carleton is like, both on an academic and social level.

Tufts University, MA

The Voices of Tufts Diversity Experience is a program designed to introduce high school seniors to diversity and community at Tufts University.

Bowdoin College, ME

Students in our Explore Bowdoin program will meet with current students, gain support and confidence in the college admissions process, and experience the coast of Maine. Attendees will also have an admissions interview and meet individually with our student aid counselors while on campus.

Swarthmore, PA

Discover Swarthmore (DS) fly-in program, an all-expenses-paid visit to one of the best liberal arts and engineering colleges in the country. Prospective students get a taste of the college experience by meeting current students and professors, eating in our dining hall, and spending a few nights in our residence halls with student hosts. They also gain valuable information about college admissions and financial aid from our staff of experts.
