Grading:
Your child will receive grades for Math, Reading, Language, Science, and Social Studies. The following is our district grading scale:
A: 90-100
B: 80-89
C: 70-79
D: 60-69
F: 59 and below
Students' grades will be based on class work, quizzes, tests, and projects throughout the quarter. Most assignments that earn less than a 70% may be corrected and re-graded once. Tests and quizzes earning below a C may need to be corrected and/or retaken.
Daily Work/Homework:
Class time will be given to complete most work. If daily work is not completed, it is homework and will be due the following morning unless otherwise stated.
My philosophy on homework is the assignment should reinforce what is being learned in class and the child should be able to complete it on his or her own in a reasonably short time. If your child ever has difficulty with a homework assignment, please write me a note so I can review the concept with them again. Occasionally, there will be homework in other subjects as well. Homework assignments should be written in the agendas daily. In addition, your child will be required to read for 20 minutes per day.
Please check and sign the agenda daily.
Make-Up Work:
When your child is absent, whether it is a sickness or a trip, he/she will have make-up work to do. Your child should get into the habit of asking for his/her work when they return to school from illness. Also, if a family trip takes them away from school, then work should be taken along and completed before they return to the classroom. Please give me as much notice as possible!
