Hi! I'm Mrs. Casey and I am the 7th grade Interventionist.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University in 2005 and my Master's in Administration from Lindenwood University in 2008.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family - my husband Tim, my kids Hannah and Cameron, and our fur babies Beau, Zelda, and Winnie. My kids are very active in sports and we spend lots of time watching them do what they love! I also enjoy traveling and cozying up with a good book.
I am very much looking forward to building relationships with my students this year! While I love seeing what academic gains we make throughout the school year, I most love helping middle school students build the confidence they need to be successful in school both now and in the future!

MRS. DEBUSK (PERSONAL)
I have been teaching since 1998. I married my husband, Jason, November 11, 2000. We have two children: my daughter, Mackenzie and my son, Cade. We have one pet, a goldendoodle, named Sadie. We live in Mascoutah in a very old house that we have been rehabbing for years. I am also one of the directors for the MMS fall play and the MMS spring musical. I love books, movies, music, and working out.
What is RTI and how does it work at MMS?
Mascoutah School District and Mascoutah Middle School are committed to providing the highest quality of education for every student, every day. Response to Intervention (RtI) is a multi-level approach to providing differentiated support to all students. Therefore, to determine if students are meeting grade-level expectations, they are assessed throughout the year (fall, winter, spring) to measure progress in ELA (English Language Arts) or math. Our teachers provide a variety of approaches to ensure each student’s success. When screenings show that interventions are needed, students are placed where they can receive the support they need to make progress. The RtI model uses a three-tier approach to instruction/intervention:
Tier 1- Classroom teachers will use a variety of strategies within the core curriculum to address individual instructional needs.
Tier 2 Supports can occur in the regular core curriculum during FLEX TIME, which is incorporated into each students' schedule for 40 minutes each school day. Teachers will work together to support students.
Tier 3- Students who require more support than the regular classroom can offer, will receive more intensive interventions during a regular class period. These classes are titled ELA Lab and Math Lab. This class occurs on the Exploratory schedule, opposite of the student’s P.E., Band, or Chorus class. Students in this class do not earn an academic letter grade. Their success is determined by participation, engagement in learning, and progress toward meeting individual goals.
Interventions will continue as needed to ensure student success in the Tier 1 instructional program. Our goal is to support students in meeting grade-level expectations within this 3 Tiered approach. The RTI Instructors will be monitoring student growth via progress monitoring with the STAR 360 assessment tools and teacher data. Every student will be involved in their assessment data and achievement goals in order to help them understand and participate in their growth.
