Class INformation

Greetings:

Hi and welcome to K-2 PE! I'm so excited to have you be a part of my PE class and I'm looking forward to helping us all be as healthy and active during this new school year. Whether we are learning from home or in person at school I expect all of us to try our very best and have fun exercising our minds, bodies and spirits while improving our environment/home and strengthening our families! Virtual Gym tab above to get started. See you soon!

Meet the Teacher:

I was born and raised for 20 yrs in Nebraska and am a proud Cornhusker through and through! I lived in Washington State for a few years before moving to the Metro East area in 2003. I currently live in Fairview Heights and have two wonderful children; Kailin 10 and Brady 4. I love being a dad and they are my greatest treasures :) I have family in Nebraska, Arkansas and Florida and travel often to see them; especially Florida (Beach Life is the Best Life!).

Experience:

I'm currently in my 12th year here at SES and I was previously a program assistant at two Air Force Youth Centers for 9 years. I am one of our school's Check-In/Check-Out (CICO) coordinators and hold certifications in CPR/First Aide/CPI.

Parent Letter and PE Expectations:

I will be sending out 2 lessons per week for each K-2 class. You can see your schedule on your homeroom teacher's Google Classroom under "Specials". In that page, you will click on the current day of the week and select that particular day's Special... Art, Music or PE.

For PE, I will use a Virtual Classroom where students can explore simply by clicking images on the screen. I will post activities and lessons in the Virtual Classroom & the grade level pages listed at the top of this web page; "Kinder PE, 1st Grade PE, 2nd Grade PE".

My expectation will be for students to participate in their scheduled PE days by visiting the Virtual Classroom and looking for the posted activity. I would also like students to try and achieve the recommended 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous movement/activity per day.

Personal Note:

For about 10 years of my younger life, I lead a less inactive, unhealthy lifestyle filled with fast food and laying around (Thanks, Video Games! lol). I finally decided to make a change for the better and that decision helped guide me to where I am today. I feel that starting off with an early, healthy foundation is the most effective way to help kiddos better understand the importance and value of healthy, lifelong fitness.
