Erik Schneider

I have a dual teaching certification in social studies and English from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.  In Missouri, I can teach grades 6-12.  In Illinois, I can teach grades 9-12.  

I began teaching in 2006 at Webber Township High School in Bluford, Illinois.  For my two years there, I taught world history, U.S. history, current events, and freshmen, sophomore, and junior English.  I also sponsored the freshmen and senior classes and coached girls softball. From 2008-2014, I worked at Madison Senior High School in Madison, Illinois.  There, I taught creative writing, ACT prep, summer school, and coached boys baseball.  From 2014-2022, I worked at Gateway Science Academy in St. Louis, Missouri.  I was initially hired as a high school title I English teacher, but gradually taught less title I English, more middle school English, then exclusively ancient history to 6th grade students.  I was also the 6th grade chair.  In August of 2021, I moved to the district's high school and taught U.S. history to sophomores.  I was also hired that year to head the social studies department.  In July of 2022,  I was hired by Mascoutah High School (MHS) to teach freshman and junior-level advanced English (my present position).  I also teach one AVID class.

My wife Jessica and I reside in Shiloh.  We have a son, Garrison, and a daughter, Alyssa.  We also have a miniature pinscher named Kashmir Aristotle and a Dalmatian named Kali Rey.  I am a huge sports fan; my teams are the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, and the football Michigan Wolverines.  I am an avid music fan, mostly listening to 60s, 70s, and 90s rock.  My family are members at St. Clare Catholic Church.  I play golf three times a week (or more) in the summer.
