January Update 2026
Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a safe and restful break. We kicked off the month of January with building snowmen! Students used equipment and worked in cooperative groups to build the cutest snowmen.
Throughout the month we will also be learning about muscular strength and muscular endurance. Specifically, the difference between the two and what activities help us to become stronger in each area.
Our 3rd-5th grade students are revisiting their fitness goals by completing a mid-year "check in" on push-ups, holding a plank, and the pacer. These fitness exercises focus on three of the five components of fitness: muscular strength, muscular endurance, and cardiorespiratory endurance. Students have shared out some excellent ways to stay healthy and fit during these long winter months, here are some of their ideas:
Play basketball
Walks/Runs (when it isn't too icy) 😊
Hike
Take the stairs instead of an elevator
Ski or Snowshoe
Eat healthy snacks
Skills/Focus for the Month:
Sportsmanship, muscular strength and endurance
