When searching for a book in the Library. You need the title of the book and its call number.

Call numbers are the book's address in the library. They can be letters or numbers.

They tell us what type of book it is and where to find it. A book's call number is located on the spine of the book near the title. The call number can have 2 or more parts that have different meanings.

The first part tells what section of the library the book lives in, like a town. The second part tells what shelf to look on,  like a street. These are letters, the first few of the author's last name (biography uses the subject's last name). Used to alphabetize the books on the shelf. The title of the book is like the house number. Some books have extra parts for special locations such as seasonal or paperback.
