What is Social Work?

The role of a School social worker is to enhance the school districts ability to foster home, school and community collaboration in order to strengthen student success. Social Workers are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic, and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling/therapy. School social workers are just one of the many key personnel within a school setting available to foster not only academic growth, but to enhance social emotional growth of students.
