The STEM Career Readiness Expansion Project is a partnership among Somerset Career and Technical Center, Foster Career and Technical Center, and the Maine Department of Energy Resources, with the goal of increasing the number of graduates who are ready for STEM careers in Somerset and Franklin Counties.
The funds for this project are provided by the New England Clean Energy Corridor (NECEC).
The NECEC HVDC line operates at ±320kV. The line crosses the US-Canada border from Frontenac, Quebec, to Beattie Township, Maine. It terminates at a converter substation in Lewiston, Maine, where the power is transferred to a 345kV AC line that then connects to another existing substation and various transmission lines. On the Canadian side, the HVDC line runs for about 62 mi past the US-Canadian border, and terminates at a new converter station at the existing Appalaches substation in Saint-Adrien-d'Irlande.
