Virtual Class Times (on Google Hangouts):
W1: Every Wednesday & Friday @ 9am
M1: Every Tuesday & Thursday @ 9am
M2: Every Tuesday & Thursday @ 10:30am
During our school closure, I will be posting IB Geography work to this website and Google Classroom. This website will contain materials and explanation while Google Classroom will be the place for you to submit assignments.
**ALL GOOGLE CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE TITLED WITH THE DATE OF THE DAY YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO START THE ASSIGNMENT**
I will post work in the same way as before the school closure. Work will be broken up throughout the week with material assignments given every other day. It is my expectation that you will complete the assignments by the due date and submit assignments via Google Classroom.
If you have any questions, please email me.
This week you will submit:
"SDGs Ranking Survey" due on Tuesday 6/9 (M1 & M2) or Wednesday 6/10 (W1)
As you watch the presentations, be sure to take notes on specific facts that will help you to rank the goals. You will be asked to justify your rankings.
The UN estimates it will cost approximately $11.5 trillion USD to meet the 17 SDGs by 2030.
We will imagine that we do not have the funds to keep up with the annual needs to address these goals fully (which is not unrealistic given the many global challenges nations face and the lag in donor funds). So some of the goals will be short-changed.
Review presentations and use them to help rank the goals (that your classmates covereed) in order of importance for investment.
We will share and debate our rankings during our LAST class.
In our last class discussion we will review:
Our SDG funding priorities
Content review of the CORE topics of IB Geo (Population, Climate Change & Resource Consumption)
This week you will submit:
"SDGs Final Project" due on Wednesday 6/3 (M1 & M2) or Thursday 6/4 (W1)
Create your slide presentation.
Be sure to include visuals and infographics to support and enhance your message.
Write your sources on a seperate google doc (informal citation ie. paste url is fine). Attach this to the FlipGrid assignment.
Record your FlipGrid and submit to class FlipGrid assignment page.

Carefully reading the targets and indicators used for your goal. Then read the 2019 progress and information. Take notes on the MOST important information AND key details about progress made.
Researching ONE “located” specific example (case study) of progress in meeting the goal [the example can be at the national or subnational scale].
REMEMBER while you research to be on the lookout for good infographics to use in your presentation.
Define your goal and give some examples of targets with indicators (NOTE: There are too many for each goal, so just pick one or two that you think are most important). Describe the global and regional patterns and trends of success for this goal and targets
Describe your example (case study) clearly and concisely.
Evaluate the progress made. Remember evaluation means to make a judgement about the relative strengths and weaknesses- so to what extent has progress been made?
Evaluate the goal itself, so to what extent is this a realistic goal worth investing in? Explain the rationale for your evaluation. Should the goal or targets be revised? Should it continue to be pursued and invested in? Why or why not?
Screen shot 100% and submit to Classroom. Take as many times as you need --- Remember we will have an all Asia test next fall.
