As many as you would like to submit; however, we may not run all of your submissions. If there is one in particular you really want to see in the magazine, tell us in the comments section of the Google form!
Inkwell suggests that you edit your work to your very best abilities before submitting it. Prior to publishing, the Inkwell editors will read over your work and make and grammatical changes as needed.
However, you are always welcome to drop into the English Lab at a time convenient for you to get help from a teacher one-on-one! See the schedule here.
Our team at Inkwell will review all of the submissions (anonymously) to determine which pieces will be published.
Just as with most literary and art publications, submissions go through a process to determine if they will appear Inkwell. The staff consider the artistic or literary merit of each piece and also weigh it against other submissions. For this reason, not all submissions are guaranteed to run, nor is it a guarantee that any of your submissions will be accepted, though we do aim to represent as wide a variety of students as possible each year. If your work is not accepted into Inkwell this year, we strongly encourage you to keep writing and creating art, and submit again next year!
We generally accept submissions from September until March, and in April we announce names of artists and writers who will be published. We send the finished magazine to the printer before April break, and we unveil the final product in early to mid-May.
You may not submit your writing or art anonymously. It is important to submit your name along with your work. Only the faculty advisors to Inkwell, however, will know which work is yours until just before publication. When submissions are reviewed by the student staff, writer and artist names are removed.
If you would prefer for your work to appear anonymously in the magazine, you may indicate your wish in the comments on the submission form. Please consider this only under rare circumstances. The faculty advisors will encourage you to own your work! Being published is something to be proud of and celebrate with our Greely community!
