Dear Parents and Guardians,
Lawrence Junior High School will be offering Power Hour for students beginning on January 8,2025.
Students will have access to the Lawrence Junior High School Library Cafe from 2:00-3:00, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week.
During Power Hour students can choose from one of several drink selections including hot chocolate, tea, bottled water and more. In addition students may also choose from a snack selection. Power Hour is a time for students to be empowered to move forward in their academics, catch up on missing assignments, or work on homework in a quiet area while waiting for practice!
Staff will be available to support students with classwork assignments and organization.
Once a month, Power Hour will host an activity period.Students will have the opportunity to learn something new, or enjoy a sweet treat. On the scheduled activity period, Homework Help will begin at 2:00 and conclude at 3:15.
After school transportation is not provided. Students must have transportation at 3:00 pm concluding Power Hour.
Communication for Power Hour will take place through the Remind App. In the event Power Hour is canceled a message will go out to parents and guardians. Parents and guardians may also message through the Remind app with any questions or concerns.
Power Hour Expectations:
Students will come to Power Hour ready to work!
No cell phones will be allowed during Power Hour. Students are welcome to use their phones at the beginning or end to check in with their parent or guardian regarding transportation.
Students must remain in the Library Cafe during the duration of Power Hour.
In accordance with the mission of LJHS, we want Power Hour to be a safe and educational environment. Students are to treat one another, faculty, and staff with respect at all times.
Failure to comply with these expectations may result in a student being suspended from Power Hour for one week and then given another opportunity to return. Parents/guardians will be notified if this should occur.
*If you wish for your child to participate in Power Hour, please fill out the permission form and have your student return it to school. Once permission forms have been received students need only to sign up 1 day in advance in order to attend Power Hour.
