Launch of the Plan

During our opening staff workshop days in 2024, we launched our strategic plan. This was the result of a two year process to ensure that voices from across our four communities helped identify our core values and themes. We engaged in a number of virtual listening sessions with each stakeholder group - high school students, staff, families/guardians, and community members. Each session had a trained facilitator and the recorded results are discussed in the listening report. From the report, a draft plan was devised and shared back with all of the interested participants for feedback and then revision. A second draft was then developed and the members of the school board reviewed it, provided critical feedback, and a final draft was written. The school board approved the strategic plan in September of 2024.

OUR MISSION

Together, we commit to helping every student know they matter.  Our goal is to empower students to acquire skills, participate in meaningful experiences, and build community connections to navigate a healthy and productive future.

Our 5 Themes

Through the listening session process, it became clear that all stakeholder groups had common interests. There were shared goals for continuous improvement and they centered around these five themes.

Strategic Plan

The Board adopted the long-term strategic plan in September 2024. It includes long-term goals, alignment of themes to the Community Compact's Guiding Principles, and measurable district strategies. Annually, schools develop action plans that attend to their comprehensive needs assessment and our district goals. Through school and district actions, we will work collaboratively to meet our goals and support the mission for our students.

To demonstrate progress toward the intended outcomes, reports will be generated annually for the board.

Listening Report

A wide variety of individuals participated in the facilitated conversations that helped us uncover our shared interests and hopes for the future. The steering committee chose four participant groups to ensure that focus group data came from a balanced set of perspectives in terms of role in the district community: students, educators, parents, and community members. In all we had 26 focus groups with over 130 participants.

There were between six and seven focus groups per participant group and between four and seven individuals in each focus group. Focus groups met during the day and in the evening, in person at schools, the central office, the Boys & Girls Club, and on Zoom to ensure ease of participation for different groups.

The report is a result of the listening sessions, drawing together themes and recommendations while also illusrating any significant differences across stakeholder groups. This report was the centerpiece of the strategic planning process.
