We as humans have gotten so used to technology in our everyday lives we often forget to look for the answers ourselves. This normalization of technology isn't just harming our curiosity and our want to learn but also our genuineness when it comes to interacting with other humans which eventually affects our happiness.
Our surroundings influence us a lot especially as high school kids who are still trying to figure things out. Our constant surroundings of technology acting as a substitute for dopamine will continue to grow if we can not tell the difference between worlds.
If we could start to maintain a grasp now of how technology and social media are influencing us then we could save ourselves a lot of trouble when it comes to in person interactions and scenarios. This is why we should go back to the bare minimum, flip phones.
Doing this would cause less distractions and more eagerness to problem solve. Forcing us to be involved in the little things that matter, and while technology is very helpful when it comes to having the world at your hands and having all the answers. We start to lose the understanding of how to find our own world.
Social media and technology are also a very quick and easy way to interact with people without actually interacting with them, while this is wonderful for keeping in touch with those miles apart. It starts to get harmful when the users are using this tactic to avoid in person interactions. Overtime using social media and technology only to interact with each other has caused a stunt in how we as individuals treat each other.
Technology is constantly stimulating our brains so when we do take a break and decide to exercise our minds in its natural state, oftentimes we find ourselves making more genuine and long lasting connections compared to a temporary rush from our screens. This constant rush can become excessive and eventually could lead to trigger pathways comparable to addiction.
The only fully positive thing we receive from technology is access to information and staying in touch but even then that typically gets abused. Bring back flip-phones, bring back talking to people like normal, bring back going outside for fun.
