Liberty High School presents their 2024 fall play, “She Kills Monsters”, Directed by Steven Skelcey. Students production started Friday, Aug. 19, 2024, and the show premieres Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
“She Kills Monsters” introduces the concept of Dungeons & Dragons to the stage. Theatre teacher and Director Steven Skelcey details “She Kills Monsters” as, “...about two sisters, one who regrets not getting to know her younger sister in time before she died… the older sister, coming to terms with who her younger sister was, and loving her for just that.
“She Kills Monsters” introduces Dillan Williams as a student fight choreographer. Growing up in the world of dance set him up for theatre as a high schooler. A self-proclaimed passion for fight choreography led him to pick up this assignment as choreographer over the summer.
Senior Ana Barringer, who plays Tilly Evans and Tillius, acknowledges new Liberty actors with a personal piece of advice. She encourages new actors by telling them to get out there and be themselves, and to not be afraid. Barringer describes that a big character choice helps the directors remember you.
“She Kills Monsters” is described as action packed with many fight scenes.
Skelcey tells how the play includes great music such as “Waterfalls” by TLC.
Skelcey states that “She Kills Monsters” has great characters, especially for female actors.
