Peach Fuzz is a very popular event that occurs during Liberty High School’s wish week. Peach Fuzz is an all-male volleyball tournament that helps raise money for a child. Peach Fuzz is occurring March 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the gym. It costs 10 dollars to play and 5 dollars to watch.
The end goal of the event is to ultimately raise money for our make a wish kid Berkley. Berkeley has a rare heart defect that has led to many surgeries, her wish is to go to Disney World, Orlando.
Liberty High School's student council is making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible and is put together to ensure the end goal is met. Cami Simental chimed in on what this process looks like; “student council divides into committees and there's a Peach Fuzz committee that plans the event itself and the meetings for the players, dates, and whatever else needed. The process can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks, it just depends”.
Students can participate by getting a team of 6-12 together and signing up to play or just bringing their friends to watch. As for the teams participating in Peach Fuzz, their goals are more towards specialty awards, such as MVP, most creative team name, and so on. Student council has ensured that not only will this be enjoyable for those playing but also for those watching. Granting the time being interactive for everyone.
Adeline Owen, the main student organizing this tournament, stresses the particular planning that goes into these events. “it takes a lot of time and good attention to detail to organize events like these…you have to think about how many people might want to participate and organize it in a way where there is very little room for mistakes so it runs smoothly”.
