Liberty’s National Honors Society is hosting a “Haunted Halls” Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. for the community and kids to trick or treat through the halls of Liberty. Not only is this for the community but for the kids and parents who might not get this experience for Halloween.
Senior member, Jasmine Maldonado stated that the reason they do this is, “just to make sure the kids have a good Halloween and it's once again, providing back to the community, because that's what National Honors Society (NHS) is all about.”
For Maldonado, this isn't only about dressing up, it's about the excitement and doing something for the community, as she says “The projects are really cool, especially Haunted Halls. I think it'll be the best one because it's just so much fun. There's a lot of people, a lot of activities, [and] it feels good to do something great”.
Addison Latour, another member of NHS and also the decorator of the Haunted Halls event, it's an opportunity for the community to be able to come together for Halloween at a safe place and just be able to have a fun time together. She states “[My favorite part about Haunted Halls] is seeing all the bigger kids together and seeing what they can do in the future”.
Anybody who has little brothers or sisters, or kids can come to a place they know is protected and experience Halloween together, while still giving the kids an opportunity to dress up and get candy while having fun.
The difference between NHS and the Student Council is the events hosted by NHS are volunteering hours and include the entire community while the Student Council hosts events just for the school and students within it. NHS hosts all kinds of events, and the new upcoming say is Pink Out! To support and raise money for Breast Cancer awareness month, and trash pickups at Black Forest National Park to protect the environment and community of trash that's being left out.
