At the start of the school year, the link leaders welcome the new freshman class into Liberty to help them adapt to the new environment. The Link leaders aim to guide the freshmen through this new experience, making it easy for them to integrate with the student body.
Link crew is a year long commitment to those who join.
Peyton Goreck, who was a Link leader this year plans to do it again next year. Goreck’s goal is to create an environment where the freshman can thrive and have a good first year.
Goreck wants to utilize social media to connect incoming freshmen to our school and student body, as well as make school events known.
“I feel like in the past there has been a lack of school community within the freshman class, I think we can change that by making a connection with them now,” Goreck said.
Junior Christian Contoveros and sophomore Liv Dixon are also two incoming leaders. This will be their first year joining the program.
Dixon wants to bring excitement to the program and give the freshman a place to feel comfortable. She wants to give them a space where they can go up to her and ask any question.
Contoveros added “I want everyone to feel welcome coming into school, and take a lot of stress off of them.”
Beyond just students, Link crew coordinators include Mrs. Dwinell, Ray Miller, Ms. Thiessen and Ms. Whipple.
The Link leaders will have multiple meetings over the summer to prepare for their upcoming duties within the role. Upcoming dates include: May Development day May 20, Link leader training day Aug 1 and 4 and The Freshman orientation Aug 12.
