School History

History in a Nutshell

Located in the southern end of Taoyuan City, our school is the first school in Yangmei District, with a history of over a century. In 1899, local residents submitted a petition for the establishment of a school, which was approved by the authorities in May of the same year. Mr Zhang Yuxing, the head of Yobai Village (Yangmei’s name during the Japanese era), raised money, materials, and manpower among local residents, and a one-room brick school was built, which opened its doors to students on 24 September 1899.

School Environment

On our spacious campus founded in the final year of the 19th century, every tree whispers a story and every tile has a tale to tell… From the first cohort of 46 students to the current one over a thousand students, countless boys and girls have studied here with joy. Each principal over time has contributed to the development of the campus, and kept this old school abreast with the times, thriving, and relevant for each new generation of Yangmei.
