About me
Hello families! My name is Katie Davenport and I will be your child’s 1st grade teacher for the 2022-2023 school year at Middletown Prairie. I would like to tell you and your 1st grader a few things about myself since I will be spending a lot of time with your child. First, I attended the University of Illinois and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I recently obtained by Master’s Degree in Education with a focus in Reading through Illinois State University. I have ten years of experience in K-2 classrooms in three school districts. However, I student taught during college at Sangamon Elementary in Mahomet (before there was MPE) and I am excited to start my third year at Middletown Prairie! On a personal note, reading is a great passion of mine and I hope it becomes one of your child’s passions as well ☺. I also enjoy watching sports, as well as traveling to new places with friends and family. My immediate family includes my husband Kyle, our dog Maddox, and our cat Milo.
I look forward to getting to know each student and their family! I am excited to make this a productive and captivating school year in an environment that is safe and engaging for all students. I look forward to helping your child have success in every setting and working with you as your child continues their education here at Middletown Prairie!
