Grew up on the south side of Chicago wrestling for the Vittum Vikings. Then attended St. Laurence High School in Burbank. Varsity Chicago Catholic League Champion 1985, Fresh/Soph CCL Champ 1982 and Regional Champion 1984 & 1985. Captain 1985.
Received Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology from Illinois State University 1990 and Masters Degree in Educational Administration 2006.

Graduated from Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley-Fisher (GCMSF) HS and was a four year varsity letterman in both wrestling and football. Placed 3rd and 4th in the State. Won 140 matches ranking him 3rd all-time at GCMS. Still holds the school record for Tech Falls and Takedowns. Freestyle and Greco All-American at both Cadet and Junior levels.
Attended the University of Illinois where he received his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.
At the age of 21 became the head coach at St. Joseph HS. Then moved to his alma mater as an assistant where he helped coach 7 state placers and a 2nd place Dual Team. Took the head coaching position at Rantoul HS before moving to M-S. Compiled 101 head coaching victories.

Grew up and wrestled for Mahomet-Seymour High School from 1989 to 1992, He was a member of the 1989 State Champion Dual Team and the 3rd place Dual Team in 1991.
State Champion in 1992 at 112 pounds. Also placed 2nd in 1991 at 112 lbs. and 4th in 1990 at 103 lbs.
Holds three spots on the All-Time Career Leader Boards: 5th in Wins at 146; 3rd in Takedowns at 480; and second in Tech Falls at 30.
Attended Illinois State University in Bloomington, Illinois receiving his BS in Agri-Business in 1996. He wrestled for ISU before the program dissolved in 1995.

Hunter went on to Millikin University wrestling all 4 years and graduating with Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. Hunter currently works for Carle Hospital.

Hunter was a Captain and three time state qualifier earning 4 varsity letters in his career at Mahomet-Seymour.
Hunter placed 1st at the Sidney MT Invitational, 1st at our own Marty Williams Invitational in his senior season. Hunter was a 3 time Regional Champion and 3 time Sectional Champion.
Hunter placed 2nd and 4th in the state and earned the Bulldog Award, Most Valuable Wrestler Award as well as earning the B.J. Ironman Award all 4 seasons.
Hunter's won 147 matches, 80 by Fall in his high school career.

Mateo currently attends Parkland College and is a member of the Cobra Baseball Team.
Mateo wrestled for M-S under Coach Ledin from 2019-2023
Mateo was a 3 Time All-State Wrestler winning the IHSA State Title in 2023, 3rd in 2022 and 2nd in the IWCOA State Tournament in 2021.
Mateo is tied with Brett Camden for Most Wins in School History with 175. Mateo also holds other records: Most Wins in a Season with 57; Most Career Falls with 85; Best Winning Percentage at 195, 54-1, 98.2%.
Mateo was a 2 Time Captain and 2 Time Bulldog Award Winner both in the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons.
Mateo was a member of 4 Top 8 Team Finishes in the IHSA and IWCOA Team Competitions and helped our team finish 3rd in the IHSA Dual Team in 2022.
