Being a member of the National Honor Society at Moorpark High School is a great honor. Therefore, certain measures must be taken to ensure such prestige is upheld. Please read over the following rules and regulations you must follow in order to maintain membership in the National Honor Society.
I will attend NHS club meetings. Meeting dates will be announced throughout the year. Meetings take place Mondays at lunch.
I understand that after my first unexcused absence, only absences for legitimate reasons (such as illness, test makeup, AP study sessions) may excuse my absence. In the event of such absence, it is my responsibility to check the NHS website for the meeting slides to catch up on any missed information.
I understand that I must notify the officers of the reason for my meeting absence BEFORE the meeting in order for my absence to be excused. If I do not notify the officers BEFOREHAND, my absence will be marked as unexcused. In order to qualify for stoles, I can only have one unexcused absence per semester.
Activity requirements: I understand that to remain a member of this club, I must complete 7 hours of community service. Inability to complete these requirements will result in loss of membership from NHS.
I will maintain a level of decency and courtesy during all club meetings. I will be respectful towards all officers, advisors, and club members.
I understand that in order to wear an NHS stole for graduation or qualify for the NHS scholarship, I must be a member for four semesters (at least one being during senior year) and complete all of the activity and attendance requirements described above.
I understand that failure to comply with the above items may result in my membership being revoked, affect senior scholarship applications, and/or result in denial of being allowed to wear an NHS stole at graduation. I will receive a warning if this should occur.
I acknowledge that communications from the club will be made available through the National Honor Society webpage, MHS and NHS Instagrams, flyers placed on the green boards around campus, and in the daily announcements. Regardless of whether announcements can be heard in every classroom, I will take on the responsibility to stay informed.
