Mrs. Garcia

Hello students and families! I am Mrs. Garcia and I’ll be your teacher this year so welcome to 5th grade!

A few things about myself is that this is my 6th year of teaching and I have taught Kinder, 2nd, and 5th grade independently. With co-teaching I was able to have some experience with 3rd grade also. I will be completing my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction by the end of August! I got married this summer in June 2021.

My two pitbull dogs are a big part of my life so I’m sure you’ll hear more about them. Their names are Dak & Zeke, and they’re brothers from the same litter. They’re also humongous and considered XL at about 110-115 lbs each! Some of my favorite things that I enjoy are hiking, walking my dogs, playing Just Dance on my PS4, listening to all types of music, watching my favorite shows which include some anime, and of course I wouldn’t be a true teacher if I didn’t love coffee and chocolate.

I would like to share some of my beliefs around my teaching philosophy. I believe that all children are unique and that a classroom should be a caring community where student can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Our class will be emerged in the 21st century skills of collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking in order to engage and activate their learning. There will be high expectations for student success, while also maintaining flexibility and providing support on a case by case basis. The class activities and learning styles will be focused around each student’s needs and interests. My main goal as your teacher and as an educator is to help my students achieve their highest potential and to develop skills for continued future success.

I am excited to be your teacher and to get to know you all better this year! We will start off with building up our classroom community and getting to know each other. We will spend time learning how to navigate the different apps that we’ll incorporate for your learning and how-to videos will be available for students and their support systems. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. The more open communication there is between students, families, and myself the more that I can help and support you for a smooth and successful distance learning experience.
