Wheeler families,
It's almost time.
We are so excited to see Wildcats in our hallways Monday night at Open House and to hit the ground running Wednesday, Augist 12th on the first day of school. We are looking forward to hearing about everyone's summer and welcoming all the new faces to our school.
Please take time to read through this newsletter carefully; I acknowledge there is A LOT here, but it also is a lot of very important information.
Later today, you will receive a welcome email from your child's classroom teacher; this is how you will learn who your child's teacher will be this year. Please know we spend upwards of two months in the spring building these rosters based on many factors.
Mr. Greg Wunderlich
Teacher assignments are based on many factors, including academic needs, a blending of students, and gender balance. Following these considerations, placement is assigned. We have great teachers, supportive parents, and wonderful kids. Please know much thought has been given to the placement of each child.
We ask that you plan to attend the Open House by following the recommended time slots based on the first letter of your child's last name.
This is recommended but not required if it does not work in your schedule that evening.
These time slots not only help with parking but also allow better opportunities for teachers to welcome their new students and families.
We look forward to seeing you!
Teachers will meet their students outside at 8:10. All teachers will have a sign with their names.
See the image for where you can approximately meet your child's teacher. Once teachers have all of their students, they will lead students into the building.
Please plan to say your goodbyes in the car or at the entrance; we will not be screening guests for entry into the building as our focus will be on the students.
You will be guided into the health room if you need to drop off medication.
Please plan with your child ahead of time. It can be stressful for students when they do not know how they are getting home. After-school plans should be established with your child before the school day begins to minimize interruptions during instruction.
At Wheeler, K-2 students dismiss out the front doors, and students in grades 3-5 dismiss out either the back doors or front doors depending on their path home. It is our expectation that older siblings go to meet younger siblings. Have a consistent plan!

As part of your online registration, one of the components is the COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) notice. If you select "No' or do not mark anything for COPPA, that means your child will not have any access to technology, assessment platforms, and will need to contact Mr. Wunderlich. If you select "Yes" that means your child will have access to all curriculum, learning opportunies, assessment platforms, and etc.
Many folks have a misunderstanding that they do not want their likeness of their child posted on websites, school social media platforms, and etc. If you have this desire - please let the office know and we will put a note on your child's student profile to ensure that is never happening!
*Returning Families*
Annual Update in ParentVUE
As of today, our returning Wheeler students are 83% fully complete with their online registration.
All existing Wheeler families must update their student registration information every school year. If you have not updated your information for the 2026-2027 school year, please click on the link below and complete the Existing Family Registration.
Click the link here for all registration and enrollment information.
Registration must be completed before students start school. We cannot notify you of your child's homeroom teacher until this is completed.
Please model safe behaviors for kids. Please always utilize crosswalks where they exist, never park and get out of the vehicle in pickup/drop off loading zones, and do not park in bus/daycare van dropp off locations.
**We also know the First Day of School presents unique traffic crowds. Pease arrive early and bring some patience! PLEASE DO NOT park and get out of the vehicle in the front drive of the school. This was cause major backups for our entire community.

Medication is given at school only when necessary. All unexpired medication (prescription or non-prescription) must be brought to school by an adult in the original container. Do not send medication with a student or in their backpack. A current medication card must be on file in the health room for any medication to be given to students at school. You can complete this process during Open House in the office.
We will meet four times this year on the following Tuesdays in the Wheeler Library:
Adding Funds to Lunch Accounts:

Be sure to include your child's name and "Lunch Money" in the memo of your check.
We will update this as much as possible to communicate events and details throughout the year. Add this to your own calendar through this link
