You likely have noticed the temporary fencing in the back of the building is still up—and we want to extend a big thank you to our kids (and staff!) for being so patient and resilient while their field space is off-limits!
We recently checked in with district Project Manager teams regarding the timeline for removing the fence. The great news is that the grass is coming up nicely, but because there are several areas with new growth, it needs just a little more time to take root in this cool, wet weather. The rain we are getting is immensely helpful to this grass to grow.
The goal is to have the fencing down within the next week or two as soon as the turf is sturdy enough for play. That is not a guarantee, but a hope. District folks are coming out each weekend to examine and check on the grass to see how it is progressing.
Thank you to our entire community for your patience as we make sure our outdoor space is fully ready and safe for everyone!
Hello from the Health Room!
In accordance with Nebraska State Statute #173 NAC 7, Millard Public Schools is required to provide a health screening that includes dental, vision, and hearing screenings, as well as weight and height. The health room will conduct a full screening of students in Pre-K through 4th grade. Kindergartners will be screened only for the items missing from their Kindergarten Physicals. You do have the option to opt your child(ren) out of the screening process. The health room will be able to take a written or verbal decision; however, there is a form that needs to be filled out and signed by a physician as well. Contact Katie Kintzle, MPS District Head Nurse, at kakintzle@mpsomaha.org with questions.
Thanks,
Mrs. Stephanie Schrader, Wheeler CNA
