Hello! My name is Mandy Boesch, and I am excited to join Black Elk Elementary! This will be my 7th year as a school counselor, and my 13th in education. My goal as a school counselor is to promote a positive school climate and help every student feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.
Through classroom lessons, small group counseling, and individual support, I help students build skills in areas such as problem-solving, managing emotions, friendships, and confidence. I also work with families and school staff to find strategies and resources that support student success.
If you ever have questions about your child's well-being, behavior, or adjustment to school, I'm here to listen and help.
I visit each classroom once a month to teach our counseling lessons. Each month has a different topic, and lessons build upon those from the previous year, allowing students to continue learning and practicing skills throughout their elementary school years. Lessons often involve a story, discussion, and brief activity or practice. Lesson topics are listed below. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or if you would like more information about our counseling lessons.

School Transitions
Small group counseling allows students to gain new knowledge, increase their awareness, and practice skills. Small groups generally consist of 4 - 6 students who meet with me about a specific topic, such as friendship/social skills, managing emotions, confidence/self-esteem, family changes, grief/loss, or study skills and organization. Groups meet weekly, for about 20 - 30 minutes over the course of four to six weeks. If you think your child would benefit from participating in a small group, please email me at ajboesch@mpsomaha.org, and I will get back to you with more information.
Individual counseling can help students work through conflicts and problems, and learn and practice coping skills. This type of support is short-term, skill-focused, solution-oriented, and is meant to support a student's success at school. Students may benefit from extra support during times of family transition, loss of a loved one, friendship concerns, or academic struggles. Please email me if you would like me to check in with your child during the school day, or if you have questions or concerns.
