About Advanced Placement

What is AP?

Advanced Placement (AP) is the most widely accepted college-level academic program available to high school students. It will ultimately enhance a student's ability to succeed in challenging college coursework. Students who plan on attending a college or university should seek to take at least one AP course in a strength area.

AP Testimonials

Riya Kulkarni, '23

"I would say the biggest benefit about taking AP classes is that it definitely prepared me for college in terms of the workload and the fact that you have to spend a decent amount of time outside of class on schoolwork. I think learning to write...in a limited amount of time prepared me for college exams and made me able to write in a way that articulates my point concisely."

Tayler Hand, '23

"Taking AP classes was one of the best decisions that I made in high school! I was able to go into college with a year of credit and will be graduating early. My favorite AP classes were AP Research and Seminar, AP Government and Politics, and AP Spanish. Skills I learned through AP classes, especially in AP Capstone, like citations, formatting, and writing style have benefitted me greatly in my college classes!"

Sania Azhar, '23

"AP Classes have helped me in college because the rigor of my classes and workload in high school is similar to my classes in college. Taking Calculus in college this semester has been easier than expected since I took AP Calculus BC. Classes like AP Literature and AP Research have helped me hone my writing and research skills which has made any writing I have to do in college much more efficient. Also the AP credit I have earned has allowed me to take sophomore level classes as a freshman, bypassing certain introductory courses. Overall, the rigor and fast pace of AP classes has made it significantly easier to do well and keep up with my classes in college."
