The brain is capable of doing ONE thinking task at a time. Once things become automated, the brain is capable of layering those tasks, such as walking and talking.
All learning begins with the body and is linked to movement developing senses and neurological pathways in the brain. Ninety percent of these connections are in place by five years of age!
There are three major learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. In our second grade classroom, I try to incorporate all three modes during daily classroom instruction.
