Please make sure to check Synergy for your child's grades and missing work.
Please make sure to look through Friday Folder papers each week.
Seesaw is an amazing application that students use to enhance their learning and share what they know. Seesaw allows students to be able to access things like spelling lists on any device. If a student forgets their iPad at school, they can access Seesaw using their Google login information (this is the same login for their Gmail account). They can also use their Tech ID Sheets that were sent home via folder and email for login information. As a parent, you are able to see the work your child completes, and comments made by the teacher, and you are also able to click the heart and leave a comment.
Students will bring their planners home each night filled out. If they have homework, they have it written in their planner as well.
This year, students will build literacy and mathematical skills using an app called IXL. This program is purchased by MPS. IXL is a great app for readers and mathematicians to make growth in their skills. Students have skills and lessons that are at their instructional level and will help them improve their reading and math skills.
Each day as part of our small group reading and math block, students will have time to work on the skills we have assigned them. Students are required to show mastery of the assigned skills. Mastery on IXL is an 80% or higher on each lesson.
IXL provides reteaching steps, videos, and hints to help if needed to help students achieve mastery.
Students have around 30 minutes a day to focus on their IXL lessons. If lessons are not mastered at school, it will become homework on the weekend.
I will check that lessons are completed, which will be counted towards their math and reading grades.
You can help your child focus on IXL skill mastery by making sure their lessons are mastered and providing students time at home to complete IXL lessons.

Birthday Celebrations🥳
We LOVE celebrating our classmates' birthdays! Students are more than welcome to bring a treat on their birthday to share with the class. If they have a summer birthday, we will celebrate them on their half-birthday. At this time, we have 20 students in our classroom. I will update families if that number changes. Home-baked goodies are not allowed into the classroom. Wheeler has a policy that requires all food products to be packaged with a food label to ensure the safety of all students. *Please refrain from sending treats that may include peanuts/tree nuts.*
If your child is having a birthday party, feel free to send an invitation for all 20 classmates to be invited or make sure that invitations are given outside of school.
New Grading Scale in Millard
After a comprehensive study including gathering input from students, recent graduates, parents, teachers, and postgraduate institutions, the MPS Grading Scale Committee is making the following recommendation:
Beginning in the fall semester of the 2025-2026 school year, Millard Public Schools will change from a 7-point grading scale (e.g., 93%-100%) to a 10-point grading scale (e.g., 90%-100%) and begin using A-F markings instead of 1-5..
Timeline that has occurred:
February 10- Board Committee Meeting to get input from the Board.
March 3- Report and Grading Scale Policy went to the Board.
Spring 2025- Started a communication campaign to inform staff, students, and families.
