About me

I was born and raised in India and have an Engineering background. I began volunteering in my son’s preschool class and fell in love with the Montessori program and teaching. That led me to do my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I have worked as a paraprofessional in the Early Childhood Montessori classroom and as a Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher before coming to Upper Elementary. My husband Raja and I have 3 boys, Nayan, Aadhi, and Varam, all of whom were Montclair Montessori students. We also have two Portuguese Water dogs, Orion and Maya.

Some of my interests include cooking, sewing, camping (in tents), skiing, kayaking and traveling around the world. I travel a lot with my family and have visited several countries around the world experiencing many cultures. We look forward to our summer vacation each year. I love watching movies and going to new restaurants and trying different cuisines. There is not a lot that I don’t like when it comes to food.

All my travels have taught me that we have more in common with people around the world than we have differences and it is this notion that I bring to my classroom. I think of my students as my second family and believe in building that sense of family and community with my students. I consider it a great privilege to work and learn with your child. I hope to provide them with experiences that expand their knowledge and skills, develop their love of learning and promote peace and joy.
