Spelling Words

*This is a replica of the practice spelling activities idea sheet students have in class.  Students will be bringing home a spelling list each week that should be hung on the fridge so it's not lost! See below for each weeks words or check Mrs. Berstler's class page.

Choose from the following activities (you CANNOT repeat any activities in the same week):

*List your spelling words from shortest to longest

*Write your words in alphabetical order

*Write each word in a different color.

*Write your words then color the vowels one color and consonants another color

*Write your words and then record the number of syllables next to your words

*Write your words coloring prefixes and/or suffixes

*Write your words in a staircase fashion

*Write your words three times each

*Write your words in sentences that show you understand the meaning of the word

and underline your word. Use proper punctuation and capitalization.

*Using a dictionary, define each of your words and include the part of speech (n,v)

*Create a crossword puzzle with clues that describe the meaning of each word and

then solve it.

*On graph paper, make a word search with a list of your words and then find your

words with a highlighter.

*Write your spelling words and draw a picture for each word

*Write your words with bubble letters

*Write each word in each color of the rainbow (ROYGBIV) - each word will be written at least 6x
