Hello! My name is Megan Brown and I am the 7th Grade Counselor at NMS this year! This is my sixth year as a Mustang, and I am so excited to be here! Prior to becoming a counselor, I taught Spanish for 14 years at Papillion La Vista South High School. I knew in my heart that I wanted to be able to help students on a more individual basis, so I pursued my degree as a School Counselor at UNO and completed my degree in May 2020. I could not be more excited to be here and see what this year brings! No matter what, we are all in this together!
My husband Bobby and I have been married for 11 years and we have an 8 year old corgi named Oliver. Oliver is full of personality and is definitely a momma's boy. He's my first dog, and is the perfect fit for our family. My husband and I love to watch Husker football and spend time with our families. This is the first year in a long time that I have not had college coursework to do and/or a second job , so I am excited to have some free time to try new things!

My name is Sam Engel and I am the 8th grade counselor this year. I spent the last 13 years as a World Language teacher for Millard- seven of those years I taught German at Andersen Middle School, while five of those years I taught a mix of German, French, and Spanish, as well as some other electives, at all six Millard middle schools. I was the assistant girls wrestling coach the last three years at AMS and will be the head girls wrestling coach at NMS this fall. This is my first year as a school counselor and I am so excited!
I have been married to my husband since 2013 and we have three amazing children together: ages 10, 6 and 5. When I am not at work, I enjoy hanging out with my family, being outdoors, playing board games, baking, and listening to music. My kids have also introduced me to Minecraft and Roblox, so I guess I'm a bit of a gamer now too!

Hi everyone,
My name is Beth Ferree, and I’m the sixth-grade counselor at Millard North Middle School. This is my sixth year as a school counselor but I am new to Millard Public Schools. I come to you spending most of my time in the non-profit world, but my heart pulled me toward education. Over the past 25 years, I’ve worked with children and families, and I truly believe that a strong, well-rounded foundation is the key to becoming an amazing human being. I’m here to support, advocate for, and cheer on your child every step of the way!
I’ve been married to my husband, Don Ferree, EdD, for eleven years. We share our home with Berniece, our lovable basset/lab mix and the undeniable belle of the ball! Outside of school, I’ve taught group fitness for over 16 years, and I’m excited to coach 7th and 8th grade Cross Country and help grow student leadership through our incredible Student Council.
I’m absolutely thrilled to be a Mustang and a member of Millard North Middle School’s outstanding team!

My name is Meghan Petersen, and I am the School Social Worker at Millard North Middle School. This is my eighth year working as a social worker in education and my first year with Millard Public Schools. I have experience across a variety of educational settings, including a specialized behavior program, an international alternative trade school, university residential education, and other public schools in the Omaha metro area.
In my role, I work closely with students and families to build social, emotional, and behavioral skills while connecting them to resources that promote long-term stability. I collaborate with caregivers, school staff, and community partners to address barriers to attendance and learning so students can fully engage in their education. I am passionate about empowering students with the skills they need to build strong, healthy futures.
Outside of work, I live with my long-term partner, Jerrold, our corgi Guinness, and our rescue cat Jasper. I enjoy playing in an adult recreational soccer league, reading, traveling, running, trying new restaurants, and scuba diving. I also love nature and science — you can often find me birdwatching or hiking on a sunny day.
