In music class at Black Elk Elementary, students sing, say, move, and play EVERY DAY! Throughout their K-5 general music experience, students have the opportunity to sing, explore musical movement, play xylophone, recorder, ukulele, a variety of drums and auxiliary percussion, and guitar. Kindergarten: This school year, kindergarten will get to share some of the music they've been working on in class with their buddy grades and through videos on SeeSaw! Be sure to check your students' classroom SeeSaw page regularly to see/hear some of their musical activities this year!
First Grade: In addition to posting videos on SeeSaw throughout the year, first graders will share some of the folk dances they will learn in class during their First Grade Traditions Showcase. First graders will also get to join their second grade friends on a field trip to watch the Omaha Symphony Mission Imagination concerts. Watch for more info on both of these events as they draw closer!
Second Grade: In addition to posting videos on SeeSaw throughout the year, second graders get to perform special music during their Kapok Tree unit! Second graders also get to join their first grade friends on a field trip to watch the Omaha Symphony Mission Imagination concerts. Watch for more info on both of these events as they draw closer!
Third Grade: In addition to posting videos on SeeSaw throughout the year, third graders will get the opportunity to share some of the music they work on during class with their buddy grades throughout the year! Third graders are also able to join a special, third grade only Record Club during the months of November and December this year. Recorder Club is for third grade students who would like to try some more challenging recorder music. Watch for more info on recorder club soon!
Fourth Grade: In addition to posting videos on SeeSaw throughout the year, fourth graders will get to design a special performance this spring! Fourth graders are also eligible to join Bravos. Bravos is a choir that will meet from January to April. Bravos is for fourth and fifth graders who enjoy singing! Watch for more info on the fourth grade performance and Bravos soon!
Fifth Grade: In addition to posting videos on SeeSaw throughout the year, fifth graders are eligible to join Bravos and a special, fifth grade only, Ukulele Club during the months of September and October. Bravos is a choir for fourth and fifth graders who enjoy singing and meets from January to April. Ukulele Club is for fifth graders who would like to try some more challenging ukulele music.
