Each unit is divided into 5 "weeks". Please watch your daily planner to know which unit and week you should be working on throughout the year. U2W4 would mean Unit 2, Week 4. 

Phonemic awareness and vocabulary are two of the five areas of reading we will focus on this year. Please practice dictating the spelling words while someone reads them to you. Think carefully of the sounds you hear and the spelling patterns used to create those sounds, then practice writing the words.  You may practice words from all three spelling lists as you become more comfortable with the spelling patterns we are learning each week.

Finding ways to use our weekly vocabulary in your life will help you connect strongly to the new words you learn. Keep practicing them in your speaking and writing throughout the year!
