WHAT IS A REFERENDUM?

A REFERENDUM is a public vote which gives a school district the ability to finance infrastructure by issued bonds. Without the ability to issue debt and spread the costs of a capital project over time, school districts would be forced to use pay as-you-go financing and significant tax revenues each fiscal year. Relying on tax revenue for infrastructure and/or capital projects is not always feasible.

HOW DO YOU BENEFIT?

The Morris Plains Board of Education strives to meet the needs of every child as they navigate their future. Through the expansion of the facilities at Mountain Way School, we will be able to RESTORE our learning environments for all of our instructional programs; including arts education, special education, related therapies, academic interventions, and a complete library. Additionally, we will be able to EXPAND our existing STEM program, Creative Literacy program, related therapy services, Basic Skills program, Art and Cultural Arts program, and RISE program. A new accessible playground, outdoor learning space, and dedicated sensory room will allow us to ensure that we INCLUDE all children. At Borough School, the renovation and upgrades of all bathrooms will allow for a more accessible and modern environment. The Morris Plains Board of Education asks for your support to RESTORE learning spaces, EXPAND academic programs, and INCLUDE all children in our learning community.
