Hi! My name is Kate Michalowski and I've been a music educator for 13 years. Before Borough School, I was in the Westwood Regional School District in Bergen County teaching Grades 6-8 band as well as some high school extra curricular ensembles. I am so excited to be here in Morris Plains!
I have been playing the flute for over twenty years, playing solo and ensemble concerts all over the world including Ireland, Italy, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and of course New Jersey. I attended The College of New Jersey for my undergraduate degree in music education and spent the following year at the Boston Conservatory studying flute performance. I play flute, piccolo, clarinet and saxophone in pit orchestras regularly and often play in church as well.
My favorite part about teaching is having the opportunity to share my love of music with my students. In my free time I love to run, go to the beach, hike, travel and read, as well as spend time with my husband, Brian, (also a middle school band teacher), our two sons, Josh and Jack, and our boxer Charlie!
